Disclaimer: I definitely have been on vacation so this whole sequence of show blogs is a bit delayed. But I have a tan. Worth it.
I woke up Saturday morning to a text warning me that we could either scratch on go play in the rain and mud.
My horse was already on site-and I was way to excited to back out now. Into the rain we went! It wasn’t a down pour really, but a continuous steady nasty/misty/rain thing…that lasted the entire day (minus the two hours I was actually able to be off and standing under the stalls overhang.
This was the warm-up ring.
But we pushed on and got the pony as clean as possible. And yes, we are standing in the rain, about 5 of us were getting ready at once and I had the cleaner of the horses.
Off to the sloppy warm up. We opted to leave all bell boots on in the bad footing. O came out a bit looky, but marched through the people like a pro. We warmed up a little hot, but didn’t have any naughty behavior, so I was happy. Especially since their were umbrellas going up and down like crazy…last time she saw an umbrella it was the devil reincarnate. This time she just meandered around at the buckle.
And then we waited….for almost 2 hours. My class was enormous…
By the time we headed in I had this going on…
Finally we got to go in. My two rounds are below. I totally bury her to the single diagonal on the first one, and she takes the jump down, but we recover and have a decent 2nd trip. I love that she was so responsive, and relaxed in the ring. Yes, we had a few moments of panic, but I was SO incredibly proud of her!!
And yes-you might have seen them…the flying changes!! She did great right to left, but still struggled a bit left to right. The quick changes weren’t that ugly though, especially when I asked correctly. I could not have been more pleased.
O got tons of kisses, grain, and her legs all wrapped up for the night. The ridiculous flat class recap coming soon!
