April Show Videos

The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Ha! Anyway, it was a wonderful learning show!

Here’s the video clips of our two over fences classes…I’m not pleased at all with how rounded my shoulders are, and I really need to put my hands down. Conclusion-I look defensive and ready to grab her face. Not awesome.

Class 1 is actually my 6th place finish, although I find it to be a lot more chaotic than my second class.

Note there is a flying change ON VIDEO (so I have proof) in the first class off the single diagonal. I know they are in there O!

We had a few weird spots the whole day, but at this point, I’m just trying to get her over all the jumps. And yes, I get super angry in class 2 after the single on the diagonal when she bulges out and cuts in at that corner. U-G-L-Y.

Next show is in about a month, lots more to do and figure out before pony goes off-site, but it’s going to be great!

Go check out Hillary’s contest at Equestrian at Hart! But then don’t enter…so I can win 🙂

  1. You are being way to hard on yourself. This is a great first show! Mare jumped all the jumps, even got a lead change, trotted when asked. Good job! Lovely mare!

  2. 1. I agree with others that you have a LOT going for you, esp. for hunters. Great stride, beautiful quality of gaits, super cute jump, tons of scope to move up.

    2. The main thing I see is working on what my trainer calls your “partnership”. Obvi O wasn’t being super cooperative, and I’m probably totally speaking out of line since I don’t know you or O, and I’m certainly not a trainer, but something that helps me when my horse is being disagreeable to think about purposefully not arguing and not picking fights. It’s kind of like when you soften, your horse softens… but it’s SO hard to be soft when they’re not.

    3. Just because I’m nosey (and you can feel free to ignore this and/or punch me in my nosey bitch face) why don’t you jump her with a standing martingale? With her head up in the air, it seems like maybe that might have helped, just a titch? Just curious if there’s a reason.

Anyways… enough of me keyboard training. O really is cute as a button and you guys BOTH have tons of potential. Sorry if I offended you at all! 🙂

    • 1. Thank you so much! I think she’s pretty cute, but I’m biased!
      2. Uhhh yes. After my fall I admit that I was a little less inclined to trusting her, and pretty sure that’s not a great way to ride. Working on that now, rebuilding our level of trust and patience.
      3. LOL….This footage is proof that my horse actually can put her head up, because she had NEVER done it before. Literally, I don’t even own a martingale anymore. Trust me, that morning, I really, really wanted one.

I’m actually pretty hard to offend, and honestly appreciate the feedback and comments! 🙂

      • I am *so* relieved you’re not offended! I posted that, and had a small panic attack, like “TRACY WTF! Stop keyboard training!” But in all seriousness, I really, really like O and I think you both have a really bright future. We all have lots of things to work on, but that’s the fun of it!

I can’t wait to hear about your next outing!!
